Dorado's Fall Season Starts at the Park on PR-165

Most of Dorado's public calendar for October 2026 runs through one place: the Gran Parque Agroturístico, Ecológico y Recreativo El Dorado, the municipal park on PR-165 at the entrance to town. It hosted the Sesiones Desde La Loma Fest salsa concert on October 3. It is the free parking lot and shuttle stop for the Festival de Campo y Pueblo on the river on October 18. It is also where the town's river boat leaves for the Río La Plata. The town's other fall draw, a pumpkin patch, is on a farm further inland in Barrio Maguayo.

The resort calendar along the coast keeps its own schedule. The events you can join on the municipal side have one thing in common. They take place among ponds, pastures and riverbanks, with farmland on the horizon.

The Park at the Town Entrance

The park covers about 340,000 square meters, or 86.5 cuerdas. The municipality's own description calls it one of the most important green spaces in Dorado. A large sculpture called the Guardián Doradeño stands at the entrance. Its official description says that passing it takes you from the pace of town to the pace of the land.

The park is easy to skim past on the drive into town, but the municipal page lists a lot inside it:

  • Granja del Mayordomo Don Eloy, the park's farm
  • Mercado Agrícola La Zafra, the farmers' market
  • El Monte de los Reyes, an outdoor amphitheater
  • Ponds with fish, turtles and water birds, plus young and mature woodland
  • Demonstration farm plots tied to the island's rural traditions
  • A dog park, a fishing area, a walking path and an outdoor gym for children and adults
  • Courts and fields for basketball, soccer, baseball, softball and volleyball, and a riding area focused on paso fino

The page also mentions 600 cuerdas of farmland. That is roughly seven times the park's own footprint and helps explain the "agroturístico" in its name.

The park is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends. Parking is $1 on weekdays, $2 on weekends and $3 during special events. For a private gathering, gazebos rent for $200, the pavilion for $300, and the shelters in the pet area for $75. The park office is at 787-796-1230, extension 2350.

The municipal page doesn't post separate days or hours for Mercado Agrícola La Zafra. Call that number before you plan a produce run around it.

A Salsa Afternoon Kicked Off the Month

The park's events calendar opened on Saturday, October 3, with Sesiones Desde La Loma Fest. The 2 p.m. salsa event was produced by G Ramos Productions and headlined by Norberto Vélez with invited guests. The ticket listing called it a celebration of salsa and Puerto Rican culture, and said this edition followed three earlier ones.

The municipality's October 2026 agenda put it first on the month's calendar and gave the venue by the park's full name. It was a ticketed concert at a park better known for picnics and the dog run. The organizers clearly see the grounds as a concert venue. The amphitheater and open lawns are built for that kind of use.

Two Ways to Reach the Río La Plata

The park's other job this month is getting people to the river. The flyer for the Festival de Campo y Pueblo promises free parking and free transportation from the Gran Parque Agroturístico to the festival. The festival runs Sunday, October 18, starting at 1 p.m. at Área La Marina on the Río La Plata.

The lineup leans on dance music with history behind it:

  • Víctor García y la Sonora Sanjuanera
  • Los Sabrosos del Merengue, billed as "El Reencuentro"
  • Karas Nuevas Ramón Rodríguez, billed as "El Clásico"

The park and the river are also linked by water. The municipality owns a pontoon-style boat called the Paseadora, which runs from near the park to the Río La Plata. A 2016 ordinance describes buying the boat for up to 20 passengers and mapping a route from the park along the Río Cocal to the Río La Plata. In June 2024 the Municipal Legislature updated the fares, citing fuel costs. It set the boat at $5 for children ages 3 to 15, $10 per adult and $15 per adult couple. It also set the park's trolley at $1 per child and $2 per adult. The 2024 ordinance has both running on weekends during park hours, and the mayor can add days, including holidays.

The municipal park page carries a 2026 photo of the trolley, but it doesn't post a current schedule for either the boat or the trolley. Those fares date from 2024, so check with the park office before counting on a boat ride as part of a weekend plan.

The Weekend of October 17

Mid-October is when the municipal calendar fills up. These are the public events still ahead on the town's published October 2026 agenda:

Date Event Where Time
Thursday, October 8 Impacto Dorado, Feria de Salud El Alcalde en tu Comunidad Plaza Pública de Dorado 8 a.m. to noon
Friday, October 9 Exposición Jóvenes Doradeños Sala de Exposiciones del Plata Salvador Rivera Cardona Not listed
Saturday, October 17 Dorado Fresh Plaza Pública de Dorado 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Sunday, October 18 Festival de Campo y Pueblo Área La Marina, Río La Plata 1 p.m.
Sunday, October 25 Tardes de Concierto en el Paraíso Plaza Pública 3 p.m.
Friday, October 30 Marcha de Concienciación Contra el Cáncer de Seno Pabellón Comercial Rafael Hernández Colón 8 a.m. to noon
Friday, October 30 Certamen Sra. Puerto Rico Edad Dorada Pabellón Comercial Rafael Hernández Colón 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Saturday, October 17 and Sunday, October 18 make the fullest weekend of the season. Dorado Fresh fills the Plaza Pública for nine hours on Saturday. On Sunday, the river festival draws its crowd through the park's parking lot. The pumpkin patch in Maguayo is open both days.

Further Inland, a Pumpkin Patch in Maguayo

Calabazas PR Fest is on Finca Pastoreo in Barrio Maguayo, at PR-694 Km 5.5. Its 2026 season opened on October 2. The organizer's site poses the season's question up front:

"¿Quién dijo que el otoño y las calabazas no llegan a Puerto Rico?" Who said fall and pumpkins don't come to Puerto Rico?

The site lists more than 50 pumpkin varieties and an 18-day season, with hours of 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. A standard ticket covers the hay tower, the pumpkin patch, La Casa de Calabazas, a corn pool, painting a pumpkin to take home, swings and children's games, and one popcorn or cotton candy. A Premium ticket adds one pumpkin spice soft serve from Softy and one roasted corn.

Two details differ depending on the source. A family events calendar published September 28 says the festival runs every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from October 2 through November 8, 2026. Six of those three-day weekends add up to the 18 days the organizer advertises. That same calendar lists prices of $23 for adults, $16 for children ages 3 to 12, $15 for seniors and free for children up to age 2. It gives closing time as 5:30 p.m., half an hour earlier than the organizer's 6 p.m. Discover Puerto Rico lists the festival as recurring daily. The organizer sells tickets by date and arrival time on calabazasprfest.com, so check there for the confirmed schedule before you drive out.

The Resort Calendar Has Its Own Guest List

The coast has a fall calendar too, but it follows different rules. At Dorado Beach, Chef Mario Pagán hosts a Mario & Friends Dinner at Su Casa on October 23 at 7 p.m., with guest Chef Sebastián Rosado of Levant. Tickets are $280 per person with wine pairing or $240 for dinner only. The resort notes that dining is for members and resort guests. Its December listings include The Great Christmas Caravan on December 4, a golf-cart parade with a visit from Santa, plus a Members' Christmas Party on December 10 and a New Year's Eve celebration on December 31. More details are still to come.

The municipal calendar has no such guest list. The Plaza Pública market, the Río La Plata festival, the Sunday concert and the park itself are open to anyone who arrives during posted hours. Parking at the park tops out at $3 on event days.

From now through early November, Dorado's fall happens at addresses that rarely come up in conversations about the town: PR-165 at the town entrance, Área La Marina on the river, and PR-694 Km 5.5 in Maguayo.
