Dorado's Summer Is Finally One Calendar, Not Two

For years, living in Dorado meant keeping two mental maps. One covered the gated side of PR-693, where the Reserve ran its own dining, its own programming, its own social clock. The other covered the town, where residents ran errands at Paseo del Plata, ate at Sushi Kytto Bar or Faccio Pizza, and read the municipal event listings for what was happening on any given weekend.

Summer 2026 is the first stretch where those two maps meaningfully overlap. The Reserve has opened more of its calendar to non-members and resort guests, the town has launched its first proper artisan market, and the fall festival calendar at Gran Parque Agroturístico Ecológico Recreativo El Dorado is already anchored. A resident with a free Sunday no longer has to pick a side.

The Reserve Loosened Its Grip

The Marriott events feed for Dorado Beach, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve now lists a Sunday Market running Jan 24 through Dec 26, 2026, at 100 Dorado Beach Drive, plus a recurring Memorial Day BBQ pop-up, a Father's Day Brunch on Jun 19, a Cask & Chrome bar experience for Father's Day, and an Identidad Bar Takeover on Jul 17. That is a real weekly cadence, not the one-off gala calendar the Reserve used to publish.

The immersive dining program is the more interesting shift. The Reserve is now marketing Private Chef Table Brunch, Lunch or Dinner, an OMAKASE Bar experience, and a COA Chef Table Experience as bookable immersive dining, and the on-property activity feed adds a few more specific formats worth knowing by name:

  • An Omakase Bar chef-led tasting featuring seasonal seafood in an intimate setting
  • A Treehouse Dining experience for couples seeking a private setting
  • An evening dinner under the century-old Ficus tree on the grounds of Spa Botánico
  • Noche Romántica at Spa Botánico, from $295

The Positivo Sand Bar sushi room deserves its own line. The venue keeps an intimate six-seat Omakase Bar for its seafood-focused menu, and the cooked side runs to Indonesian-style sambal udang, wok-fried Caribbean lobster with pickled chilies, and Singaporean shrimp curry ramen. That is not the beach club menu Dorado used to have on the sand.

The Town Answered With Its Own Market

The town side finally has its own weekend anchor. The first edition of Dorado Fresh celebrates the local market, gastronomy and creative brands of the municipality, with food, produce, bakery, fashion, art and pet products. That is a small paragraph in a monthly roundup, but for residents it is the first artisan-market format the town has produced at scale, and it lands in the same window that PlateaPR is tracking the wider July calendar.

For fall, the anchor is already booked. Sesiones Desde La Loma Fest 2026 is scheduled for Oct 3 at Gran Parque Agroturístico Ecológico Recreativo El Dorado on PR-165. Same park that hosted Festival Color Caribe in previous seasons. The point isn't that any single event is transformative. The point is that the park is being programmed as a venue, which is new.

A Sunday You Can Actually Stitch Together

Here is what a July or August Sunday in Dorado now looks like if you use both maps:

Time Reserve side Town side
Morning Sunday Market at 100 Dorado Beach Drive Coffee at Bocatto Coffee Truck or Café Cuatro Sombras
Midday Beach hours, then lunch at Panela Cocina Social Dorado Fresh vendors, then Faccio Pizza or Pirilo Pizza Rustica
Late afternoon Spa Botánico under the century-old Ficus Walk at Bosque de Pterocarpus de Dorado
Evening Omakase seat at Positivo Sand Bar, or COA at the wood-burning oven Sushi Kytto Bar at Paseo del Plata, or ROMBO Asador Playero

The bridge is Paseo del Plata itself. The center bills itself as an upscale open-air shopping destination at 150,000 SF with over 1,300 parking spaces, designed for community spaces, dining and specialty retail in one of Puerto Rico's fastest-growing regions. That is a lot of parking for a town whose residential density hasn't caught up yet, which is exactly why the center works as the pivot point between a Reserve morning and a town-side dinner.

What Fall Already Tells You About This Summer

A useful thing about a resident calendar is that it is written months in advance. The Reserve's Sunday Market runs through Dec 26, 2026, so residents can treat it as a fixed weekly asset rather than a pop-up. The July 4 window at Encanto is a good tell for the rest of summer. One of the area's signature holiday events takes place at Encanto Beach Club, offering a full day of entertainment for families, couples, and resort guests. Encanto has always been the Reserve's most public-facing venue, and it is doing the heaviest scheduling work of the summer.

For residents who care about food credentials, two Forbes Travel Guide profiles landed on Dorado addresses this cycle. Flor de Sal at Dorado Beach, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve adapts the Italian tradition of throwing salt over the left shoulder for luck into a menu of classic Mediterranean fare built around quality salts from around the world, and the setting is alfresco with sea views amid the palms. Positivo Sand Bar is confirmed inside the Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star Dorado Beach, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve. Neither is a new opening in the technical sense, but both were re-validated this cycle, which is the signal that matters if you are deciding where to take a visiting sibling in August.

The Dining Map, Redrawn

If you have not updated your mental list in a year, here is where things sit right now, kept short on purpose:

  • Reserve side, formal: COA is the signature restaurant at Dorado Beach, built around a custom "MIBRASA" wood burning oven, and the restaurants also host La Cava, one of the largest wine rooms in the Caribbean
  • Reserve side, transitional: KGB is a Mediterranean restaurant with a transitional concept containing three menus for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with an extensive wine list
  • Reserve side, casual: Encanto Beach Grill for grilled specialties, light bites and tropical drinks in a casual, family-friendly setting, plus Panela Cocina Social for contemporary dishes, fresh salads and local flavors for breakfast, lunch and dinner
  • Town side, at Paseo del Plata: Sushi Kytto Bar, and the anchor tenants residents already use for weekday errands
  • Town side, independent: Faccio Pizza, Pirilo Pizza Rustica, ROMBO Asador Playero, La Vaca Enfurecida, MELAO by Mario Pagán, El Ladrillo

The list is longer than it needs to be for a reason. A year ago a resident asked "where should we eat" and got two or three answers depending on which side of PR-693 they lived on. Now the honest answer is that the town side has enough depth to hold its own on a Saturday night, and the Reserve is open enough that a non-member family with resort guests visiting can plan around it.

Why The Braid Matters

The reason to notice this is not that any single event or restaurant is going to change your week. It is that the Reserve's decision to publish a full 2026 calendar, the town's decision to launch its own market series, and Gran Parque's decision to book a fall festival are all happening in the same summer. A Dorado weekend is now something you can plan across both sides of the map without feeling like you are commuting between two towns.

For residents who bought here expecting the Reserve to stay a walled garden, that is a quiet upgrade. For residents who bought on the town side and used to feel programmed around, it is a bigger one. Either way, the calendar is worth reading in full this quarter, because the version of Dorado that shows up in it is not the version that showed up in last summer's.
